Newly opened Barranco is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood- welcome! I came on Peruvian Independence Day to celebrate with some Peruvian friends. We were greeted right away by the hostess who let us choose where we wanted to sit. The music was extremely loud (too loud in my opinion to sit inside) so we chose a small table on the sidewalk. Our waitress was so sweet. She was accommodating and frequented our table often to check in. We ordered a round of cocktails and the Yuca fries to start. The fries were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious- I would go back just for those. While waiting for our entrees we noticed a banner advertising pisco tastings in celebration of the holiday. We inquired with our waitress and she let the owner know. Before we knew it he was at our table doing an in depth pisco tasting of three common piscos. I learned so much about the history and making of pisco from the owner himself- this was awesome! For our entrees, I ordered the lomo saltado. When it was brought out, I have to admit that I was a little disappointed by the portion size. When I've ordered this dish in the past at other Peruvian places, it is served on a platter. This came on a small plate for $36. In my opinion, management should consider upping the serving size for the price. This aside, it was absolutely delicious. The sauce on the steak was very good and the fries were crispy and well salted. The rice it came with was also a little disappointing. It needed some seasoning, it tasted extremely bland. Overall, we really enjoyed our evening celebrating Peruvian Independence at Barranco. I will definitely be returning! Best of luck to this new business on Ditmars.

First off welcome to Ditmars Blvd! This place is just a short walk from the ditmars blvd train stop on the n and w. This place gets a solid 4 stars and here's why: I called to make a reservation on Monday as I know how packed these places get on the weekends. Our dinner party ended up meeting earlier so we got there at 730 on Friday instead of 830 and were seated right away. They even said we could choose our table; they had both high tables and regular ones. Unfortunately the high table we chose had a leak as it was raining on and off that day and canopy was leaking so we moved to a regular table. The waitresses handed us our menus as soon as we sat down, we ordered our drinks and checked out the menu. Obviously our drinks came right away as both my best friends ordered the famous Inca kola and I ordered a glass of Chicha morada. To get a taste of a little of everything we ordered: - anticuchos - papa a la huancaina; to me you can't have anticuchos without it - arroz chaufa with beef - lomo saltado; of course if you're going to a Peruvian place you have to try this dish - Jalea; seafood dish - rice and beans; delicious - last but not least a 14 oz sirloin with mashed potatoes Now there was only three of us and we all went home with doggie bags. As a Peruvian descendant; I know what this food should taste like. Let me tell you the Chicha was little disappointing, not enough lemon and I think it's always a good effect to add the little apple pieces. The anticuchos were seasoned perfectly and super tender. The huancaina sauce was not runny, it just needed a little bit of salt. The arroz chaufa's beef was a little dry but the meat of the lomo made up for it. You can never go wrong with rice and beans. They complete any dish. The Jalea was delicious, packed with shrimp, baby octopus, calamari, fried fish and yuca fries with a nice onion salsa to go with it. We didn't get to try the sirloin steak as both times it came out the meat was bloody and I need to have my meat well done BUT the mashed potatoes it came with was creamy and buttery; not from a box. Our waitress went above and beyond to make our Friday night dinner amazing. Aside from her comping the steak order, she said our new round of drinks and dessert were on the house. Shoutout to Luisa! Although the food is a little pricey, I would definitely come back here with my parents. See you soon Barranco!

So far, so good! Beautiful outdoor vibe with the side windows opened up. Daily happy hour from 3-7pm and their menu has plentiful food and drink options. Red sangria was great on a sunny weekend day ($7). Yummy pisco sour ($10 on HH), Friendly service, too! We got the yucca frita which was $10 on HH - a nice surprise. However, I dropped the review to a 4 because our server closed us out earlier than we expected (which was fine) but she forgot a drink we had ordered which left me with a drink and him drink-less and no one else came around to serve us. We also noticed another table got a complimentary round of shots and they had come in well after us, not the biggest deal but just some important observations that we made on our first trip in.
